In part Two of our ongoing series summarizing the history of the patent system, we turn to the evolution of patent protections in the United States between 1790 and 1900, starting with the U.S. Patent Act of 1790 and the birth of the U.S. patent system. Also covered: The U.S. Patent Act of 1793 and the first gold push of U.S. Patent applications, the establishment of the U.S. Patent Office in 1836, and the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of 1883, which gave birth to cooperative international IP treaties.
